![]() The chances are that there won’t be as many decorations, but there should still be plenty of food and maybe some soft music to enjoy. The sip and see needs to be a very casual and quiet event, as you won’t want to upset the new baby. While the typical baby shower happens before the baby arrives, sip and see events happen afterwards. It’s important to note that there’s a big difference between a baby shower and a sip and see. These parties are also excellent for welcoming newly adopted children to the family.Ī sip and see can be an excellent way for exhausted parents to introduce their new child to everyone at once, rather than arranging multiple visits. One of the more interesting options to emerge in recent months is the Sip and See party.Įssentially, this is a chance to have family members and friends over for a lighthearted party, where they get to meet the new baby or child soon after they’ve been welcomed into the world. You have parties that are all about revealing the gender of a new baby, and traditional parties where men aren’t allowed to attend. I’d love to hear about other adoptive families’ experiences or plans with baby showers and Sip and Sees. If we had more children in our families, we probably wouldn’t have chosen a vineyard. Typically, they’re at the new parents’ house. We had a newborn and weren’t getting a lot of sleep, so having a venue that did a lot of the work was key to our success. We had a light lunch, wine tasting, cupcakes, and party favors. Either way, if you live in Michigan, I would highly recommend them. I’m not sure if it was because I was hosting it at their venue, or because they actually understood that my situation was a bit different and wanted me to feel special. The event coordinators never heard of a Sip and See, but loved the idea. I hosted the party at a local winery called Sandhill Crane Winery. Here are some things I included in my first Sip and See. I didn’t feel like celebrating a potential future child that felt really far off. People around me didn’t seem to get that after years of mourning pregnancies that didn’t happen and grieving babies that were never born or never mine, my bravado was pretty much shot. Fast forward, sprinkle in some infertility and a dash of adoption, and my dream baby shower didn’t seem to fit my situation. And I sort of made a deal with myself that since I didn’t have a bridal shower, I would really knock it out of the park with the baby shower. The celebration, all about me and my unborn baby.
